LET’S TALK: Is Buhari’s Government Doing Enough To Protect Lives And Properties In Nigeria?

What else should be the main priority of a government if not protection of lives and properties of its citizens.
It is quite disheartening how Nigerians have to suffer everyday to get 3 square meals and returning home hail and hearty from everyday hustle becomes practically unsure. Considering recent Plateau crisis, Nigerians are not even safe in their own homes.

Insecurity On Roads

Some weeks back, a container fell off a transporting truck on Ojuelegba bridge claiming the lives of some innocent passers-by in the area and just yesterday truck load of fuel tumbled and caused explosion leaving many lives lost as well as properties destroyed.
Naturally, one would be forced to ask at this point, are there no laws that regulate the operations of heavy-duty trucks in Nigeria? Why is it that tankers and trucks have become potential death trap on our roads?
No doubt, a good number of these truck drivers and owners are careless in the operations but what is the government and it’s agencies doing to checkmate their activities? Many a times, containers are not properly screwed or not screwed at all to trucks transporting them thereby making their fall-off unavoidable. What penalties do truck and tanker owners have to face every time their vehicles cause havoc on the roads?

Herdsmen Attacks

Talking about the security breach that gave birth to herdsmen’s successful attack on 11 Plateau state villages, the ability of the present government when it comes to responding to crisis and preventing its future occurrence using armed forces and law enforcement agents needs to be questioned.
The recent Plateau incident is not the first time similar deadly situation is happening in Nigeria, lots have happened in Benue state too and other parts of the country under this administration. But when they happen, mass burial and condolence messages seem to be the only action of crisis control.
Taking a deep look at the state of the nation presently, it is not crystal clear what the government is doing to remedy situation. Many promises have been made to put pressure on  law enforcement agents to work dutifully in safeguarding lives but the question is, what has been done?
Now, it is very imperative to ask;
